Walid Abdallah Poetry |Contemporary Egyptian poet

Walid Abdallah

A candle in the wind

I am a candle in the wind
dancing happily, I pretend

I am always deep under pressure
Suffering from stress with no measure

In silence I always burn
How to survive I should learn

I always live to end others' night
They think it's my duty and their right

Nobody cares how I feel
Or cools my wounds that never heal

No dream in my life comes true
Because of winds that always blow

I burn for others' happiness
I only get their carelessness

I don't know for how long I should burn
For those who never care or concern

I gradually vanish for their sake
they squeeze my hear and break

I really can't stand for long
To a place I never belong

I lost the love of my life as a whole
In a world with no substitute at all

She couldn't stand in the wind with me
Left me in the storm and decided to flee

She took all the sense of life away
And left me in the wind lost and astray

I am half alive and half dead
I can't bear what she just said

She left and took my heart with her
She never knew how much I care

We become strangers again
As she couldn't bear the pain

I am a candle in the wind
Only sad sighs I can send

Absence

I love all your flaws except for your absence
You enthrall my heart, soul and every sense

Any day passes without you is meaningless
My life and heart stop, I frankly confess

Don't stay away for long
You're my life's tone and song

I feel astray, I get lost
You're the one I love most

Your eyes are my compass in the vast space
I belong to your arms, they are my home, my place

When you leave, you take my breath away
My sun sets down, none but you makes my day

When you go and leave me alone
I feel I am a dark sky with no moon

Come back quickly to my desperate heart
Give it the life you take the time you depart

My eyes see none but you whether far or near
Come closer and eliminate every fear

If you think your absence doesn't matter
Look at the rain to see the tears my eyes scatter

Beyond the Far Cloud

Beyond the far cloud in the vast sky
I built you  a palace of stars so high

Where your eyes lighten the universe
And spread love hearts can't express

Let's live a legendary love with no end
Help me fix a broken heart and mend

A heart waiting for you before life
Tasting every pain and endless strife

Looking into your eyes pushes life into my vein
Like a desert  that first tastes drops of rain

Your hair is like waves of a very calm sea
Into my soul your love  is a deep rooted tree

I will always water our love tree with my soul
Each leaf carrying our names and will never fall

Beyond the far cloud I have been waiting
For two souls that will always be mating

You shone like a bright sun ending my night
You will be always there in front of my sight

Away from you I no longer exist
Between your arms I find my rest

With you life smiles, stars dance and sing
I owe you the happiness you always bring

Beyond the far cloud I offer you my heart
It is just the beginning, it is a simple start

Will you accept the present my dear
And end my pain, suffering and fear?

Waiting for you beyond the far cloud
My heart is calling your name aloud

Don't be late, don't let my heart down
Into your sea, I am always ready to drown
