Wansoo Kim

The Path That Pushes Life Forward

Crossing a crimson river, through a mist of tears,
When a burning birth pushes open the worlds door,
The sharp breaths wrapping the body
Spread into a song that echoes through the blue sky.

A journey where flesh and soul are torn apart,
Nights with no light, and days dimmed by haze,
Sink into that first wet cry,
And heavy pain turns into shining waves.

Just as flowers bloom redder pierced by thorns,
And trees, soaked in wind, grow stronger still,
New breath, like a sprout breaking through soil,
Lifts its face first from the edge of the earth.

Hands that cradle a child
Shine brighter than the stars,
Each mark upon that hand
A door of light opening to heaven.

This path cannot be called suffering
It is a sacred flame planting breath,
And soon its branches
Will bear fragrant fruit
To fill the world,
So one may rest in their shade.
