Turning Over a New Leaf

I’m turning over a new leaf,
after the storms of life.
I put the leaf between some pages
as a new chapter begins.
A Special Day
A special day-
fresh flowers
In the middle
of the table-
a pleasing smell.
Indigo blue tablecloth,
patterns and aroma combine
making the day special.

Ballerinas

Ballerina’s dance in the firelight’s glow.
magic in motion,
making faces glow.

Free Beer Nuts

Eat the beer nuts!
They are free and germ ridden.
“Don’t Feed the Animals!”, a sign says
as I belly up to the bar and peer in.
I dip my hands into the cesspool.
The nuts have a certain crunch.
Did the bowl
contain drool
from some drunken stool?

The Reunion

Family faces around a table.
Laughter reminded me of Aunt Ethel,
If she were only here.
The sideview of a cousin,
reminded me of Uncle John.
Resemblances abound
when the family gathers around.
Another baby is on the way
to hopefully carry on
the tradition.
