We’re Like a Breeze on a Summer’s Night
There’s a fine line between oblivion and sleep.
In twilight sleep the fairies dance
blessed by an ocean of air
and chime fingers playing the wind.
I want expansion but cling.
I forget it’s all an illusion.
Everything fades.
The sun teaches that.
Colors bleach, objects rust and tear.
Death fades us into the stars.

Comfort in Chaos
Kitty flies into cozy arms:
a respite from games on earth.
Why else the enthusiasm
and constant searching for love?
Is it not paradise
to stretch and roll on a loving bosom
making biscuits in the sun?
Helping or hurting
are games of choice.
Time dulls passion so elders
calmly observe the games
and changing rules.
Egos cling to air.
Illusions cling to ethereal roots
are games of choice.
Time dulls passion so elders
calmly observe the games
and changing rules.
Egos cling to air.
Illusions cling to ethereal roots
in a maze where the exit is death.
Say the names of humans who
who affect you profoundly
who light you, vibrate your aura
who awaken something you can not name
or know that it is you.
To reach out is to reach in.
We are the wizard
We are the Oz
We are the writer, director, editor and star.
We are single.and collective.
We are fragments, explosions and saving bliss
separately, gloriously searching
bumping into the walls we built
to keep us safe.
Say the names of your loves, your hates
your fascinations.
Say their names. Say your name.
They are you.
El Paso Immigrants Looking for Home
At the base of a desert mountain
the dry ocean of empathetic waves
mingle and continue as the air we breathe.
There is no spiritual boundary
in the atmospheric sea.
Winds blow through fences.
Border Patrol may capture and detain us
on land our ancestors lived.
Long guns with laws may deport us.
We still share the same air
and ghosts of history haunt the land.
We’re only looking for home
above the cemented gulch
of the Rio Grande.
