Gaza: Genocide Continues in New Forms, But the Essence Remains the Same?!

Gaza: Genocide Continues in New Forms, But the Essence Remains the Same?!

Gaza is an open wound on the conscience of humanity.

Genocide is one of the most heinous crimes known to mankind, targeting a group of people based on their ethnic, religious, or national identity. Today, the case of Gaza sheds light on the suffering of a people facing violent, systematic policies that threaten their very existence. It raises fundamental questions about the credibility of the international system and the effectiveness of humanitarian law.

According to the 1948 United Nations Convention, genocide is defined as any act committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group—such as killing its members, inflicting serious bodily or mental harm, or deliberately imposing living conditions intended to bring about its physical destruction. This crime is considered one of the gravest, with consequences that invoke international criminal responsibility.

Gaza: Between Siege and Bombardment
For over 17 years, Gaza has endured a suffocating blockade imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities, affecting all aspects of life—from food and medicine to freedom of movement and trade. Over the years, the Strip has been subjected to multiple devastating wars, claiming the lives of thousands of civilians, including women and children. Recently, the violence has intensified, with widespread destruction of infrastructure, systematic targeting of hospitals, refugee camps, and shelters—leading many observers to describe what is happening as a slow genocide.

Rising Human Rights Voices
The atrocities committed in Gaza have sparked widespread international reactions. Human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have condemned the excessive use of force and the targeting of civilians, calling for independent international investigations. In a historic move, South Africa has filed a formal case against Israel at the International Court of Justice, accusing it of committing genocide in Gaza—a step that reflects the gravity and scale of the violations.

A Deafening Silence
Meanwhile, international silence and moral hypocrisy persist—as if nothing ever happened. Why such complacency? Why such weakness? Are we truly this incapable of speaking the truth—of standing up for humanity—while claiming to be nations with flags, representatives, and seats in global forums? Or are we merely flaunting titles, privileges, and empty pride?
Where is the humanity we so often boast about? Is it only reserved for our own people, and not for humanity as a whole?
Did not our noble Prophet (peace be upon him) proclaim that no Arab is superior to a non-Arab except by piety? Did he not endure the cruelty of his enemies for the sake of spreading a message of justice and mercy? Wasn’t his mission one for all of humankind?

So what now—what remains after all this submission? What are we seeking in return? A comfortable life? Happiness in exchange for silence and turning a blind eye to injustice?
If we claim to be nations that care for their people and uphold their rights, then who cares for the people of this land that was seized and desecrated? Who stands for their salvation, especially when we claim to follow Islam and its laws?

Double Standards and the Price of Silence
This global silence—or complicity—raises serious questions about the double standards in addressing the victims of war, where human rights are trampled beneath the feet of political and economic interests.
Despite clear evidence and testimonies from survivors who faced death, starvation, and destruction—from newborns to the elderly—how can the world remain this passive and weak? Why is the international community, supposedly the highest authority, still incapable of stopping the aggression or holding the perpetrators accountable? At whose expense?

The case of Gaza is not just a political or regional conflict; it is a battle between truth and falsehood, a humanitarian tragedy that transcends borders and time.
The world’s indifference and silence are nothing short of complicity. It is a message to the world to awaken from its slumber. Genocide continues—albeit in various forms. Whatever its shape, it remains a disgrace to all humanity.
There must be a just stand that honors the victims and restores the true meaning of justice—where the scales are finally balanced.
