Poetry By Valentina Giua : Italy's emerging and influential poet

Off Topic

April first,
a translucent unease—
like a glass of water
God slides across
an olive wood counter.

Eyes, unnamed,
watch from the corners.

You drink—
because God was there,
again.

And you,
always off topic.

----------
Magarìa, Iki

See it?
Light lies.

Colors, spinning—
violets, blues.
I wear violet,
hypnotized.

It heals, they say.
Scratches, souls.

I sink into pigment,
become
a filament,
a brook,
a siren,
a spectrum.

You don't see.
You can’t.

Violet eats me,
spits me out,
a minute’s eloquence
I refuse to name.

------

It’s Always Friday
Incense,
flowers,
seeping into the walls
of Christ the King.

Weekday souls,
soft prayers.

I open my suitcase,
choose a bead—
olive wood.
