Wake-up Call
(Nasser – 24-7-2025)
 
Outside, the stars were shining bright.
In my bed, I longed for peaceful night.
I looked out through my windowed brass—
Noticed a stirring in the grass.
 
Something appeared and then was gone.
Was someone there… or just a pawn?
I saw an old man, lost, alone,
Squatting like he waited for the stone.
 
Darkness crept into my room—
Sweeping light with silent broom.
Though I had all life’s gifts in hand,
Happiness seemed far to land.
 
What had I done to deserve such bliss?
Should I help—or just dismiss?
Could I ignore him? I wouldn’t dare—
Nightmares would chase me if I were unfair.
 
I could’ve lied, and turned away,
But none can guess his dying day.
I rushed outside with pillow and cover—
Maybe he needs them, or maybe never.
 
Tears welled up in his tired eyes.
A wordless message. A deep surprise.
Confused, I brought him through my door—
He might be the key to something more.
 
Deep within, I realized:
Blessings are not to be monopolized.
Shelter, food, and water—I had it all.
Thank God… for this wake-up call. 

Aliens

We’re the aliens.

Tomorrow sings our pain.

No family. No grevers.

Even discovery avoids us.

And the glow of longing widens.

 

We’re the aliens.

The waxing moon gives our dreams wings.

Night comes, and even fantasies abstain.

No breeze touches our balcony.

No defiance remains where we might meet.

 

We’re the aliens.

Filling our bags is weary work—

Lives and illusions.

The rain cares for us.

And before the clouds wake, it clears.

 

We’re the aliens.

We play our guitar,

sing love rituals, and rejoice.

So bind yourself to us, O melody.

As we grow in our hearts and plant,

 

We’re the aliens.

The flame of nostalgia irons our ribs.

Whenever its fire fades, it branches—

And from the ashes we remained,

The wind reaps us into scars.

 

We’re the aliens.

Let our steps shine the way.

And the pain inside us belongs to the terrified.

We knock on the doors of fancy.

We send an appeal…..

and it returns in tears.

Biography.

NASSER ALSHAIKHAHMED is a SAUDI ARABIAN bilingual poet and writer, he writes
poetry and short story in Arabic and English
He went to school at Sonoma State University in California, USA. Although his field of study is
far from literature but his soul is immersed in poetry and writing.

TIBURCID MARQUEZ)
He has won the second prize ;Zheng Nian Cup China Literally Award! 2023. 
He was awarded on 14-10-2023 by the L.A. Seneca International Academic Literary Award , the , Italian Academy of Philosophical Arts and Sciences, Bari- Italy.
Participated in the international childern lietrature fourm in Dhaka , Bangldesh in December , 2023
